Pride & Prejudice

This is an image from the original photo "Pride & Prejudice." In 1990 Indianapolis had gay & lesbian pride day in July. For the first time it was held downtown on the Monument Circle. This is in the center geographically and emotionally of the city-the heart of the city. A group of couple hundred right wing protesters were circling the festivities and I led a counter demonstration with a pride flag. The photo was snapped as we were facing down the homophobia. It is a very special photo for me, and I thought the way to express the rage was to destroy it for if anyone is repressed or victimized, how can any of us enjoy what is left?
